Elyn Saks Perspective | Illuminating Mental Illness

Paste a Video URL

This is one of the most illuminating pieces I’ve ever experienced. I thought of how much potential is lost, the lives squandered, and unnecessary pain. I was struck by the concept that there are “people with schizophrenia, not schizophrenics”.

If you know of anyone with a severe mental illness, if you suffer yourself, please watch this. It’s 14 minutes long and some of it will make you uncomfortable but it will be worth it in the end. (I had to simply listen to much of it) This woman has a perspective on a life you many never hear again.
